TYMES studio is based in the cultural complex SODAS 2123, a vibrant hub that brings together creators, researchers, and cultural organizations from diverse fields. This interdisciplinary environment fosters creative collaboration, providing constant opportunities to exchange knowledge, refine our skills, and push the boundaries of design practice.

First OPEN SUDIO event

Our studio regularly participates in OPEN SODAS, a recurring event where artists open their studios, present their work, and engage in dialogue with peers and visitors. These events not only showcase our creative projects but also challenge us to explore new ideas, experiment with formats, and grow professionally. In 2024, TYMES took part in three OPEN SODAS events, each exploring a different theme.

OPEN SODAS: HOME

In February, the event was dedicated to the opening of TYMES studio. We introduced ourselves as a creative collective, sharing our work in communication design, interior design, and experimental projects. The open studio format attracted a diverse audience, including industry peers and like-minded visitors. This experience helped us refine how we present our practice, reflect on our design approach, and gain valuable feedback.

OPEN SODAS: CELEBRATION

For the July event, TYMES took inspiration from Times Square, a theme sparked by our colleague Marius Žalneravičius’ visit to New York, where he held a retrospective exhibition of his posters. We transformed our studio into an immersive space filled with animated posters, recreating the dynamic visual energy of Times Square’s screens. The event became an opportunity to experiment with motion graphics and spatial storytelling, pushing our creative boundaries. Despite taking place in the middle of summer holidays, it drew an impressive number of visitors.

OPEN SODAS: MOVEMENT

For the October edition, we prepared a performance exploring a designer’s obsession with order—grids, rulers, perfect alignments, and the relentless pursuit of structure. Anyone working in communication design inevitably encounters rules, layout grids, modular compositions, and other rigid frameworks. For many professionals, this obsession with order spills over into everyday life. To visualize this concept, we created an interactive grid system in our studio, where we obsessively battled against disorder. This project allowed us to deepen our understanding of design constraints, play with performative expression, and rethink the role of structure in creativity.
